The native population of Ataco still retains many of the Customs and ancient traditions, which goes from generation to generation through tradition safeguarding Nahuatl culture so far, Nahuatl was the native language years ago but their native language now is Spanish, According to some linguists, ATACO means "Elevated place Springs"
One of things that stands out in Ataco are their beautiful murals, painted outside of theirs houses, in every mural they tell us the history of Ataco and their roots the pride they have in their land is regarded and that seems very amazing, this is something that you can't see in the main city of El Salvador.
